100% Chardonnay | Alcohol 11.13%
A pale straw colored wine with notes of citrus, Granny Smith apples, and pineapple, rounded off with creamy biscuit on the nose. On the palate, it has an abundance of citrus, apple and pineapple flavors, well-supported by a natural crisp acidity, and mouth-wateringly creamy texture and a lingering finish.
The grapes for the Durbanville Hills Blanc de Blancs are hand selected from a single block situated 250 metres above sea level on the hill opposite the winery. The coolness of the southern slope ensured a firm acidity and the selection was based on the immaculate uniformity of the berries. In the cellar, secondary fermentation took place in the cool, controlled climate of the maturation cellar, and the wine was matured for a further 36 months on the lees, with the sediment then removed by the traditional method of remuage and disgorgement.
In June 2020, Durbanville Hills' Blanc de Blanc 2015 was crowned World's Best Sparkling Wine in the 2020 World Sparkling Wine Awards held in London, beating fierce competition from 45 entries from 8 countries around the world, including some of the world's best sparkling wine regions -- France and Italy.
