Three of the parcels were from the stony Schist-based soils of the Kasteelberg, two hail from dry-land bush vines grown in the decomposed Granite terroir of the Paardeberg, and one from the Iron-rich soils just west of Malmesbury.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDelicate hand-harvesting of this Syrah took place during the early mornings at each\u003cbr\u003evineyard site and was then crushed 90% whole-cluster to ensure the best expression of its unique Swartland terroir. To encourage natural and gentle extraction during the\u003cbr\u003eindigenous fermentation, regular cap management was essential, and after four weeks,\u003cbr\u003ewhen the tannins defined what we expect from our signature Mullineux Syrah, the wine\u003cbr\u003ewas pressed to 500L barrels. Each parcel was racked just after Spring and later bottled\u003cbr\u003eunfined and unfiltered.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis wine was first aged for 11 months in French oak 500L barrels. During this period, it\u003cbr\u003edeveloped a beautiful tannin structure as well as dark perfume notes. The Syrah was then blended and aged for an additional ten months before bottling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Mullineux Syrah has become synonymous with its hallmark Swartland perfume of\u003cbr\u003eplush blackberries, violets and black olive tapenade. The palate is rich and elegant with\u003cbr\u003evelvety tannins, complex red fruits and warm spicy notes on the finish.
