Platter's Guide: 5 stars (2017)
This wine is somewhat of a Tuscany-Burgundy-Piedmont-Rhône mash-up that is surprisingly elegant and balanced. The nose shows a herbal top note before red and black fruit and some smokiness and meatiness come into play. Medium-bodied, the palate has dried cherry, blackberry and a. hint of savouriness and tobacco. It has spicy tones that overlay a gentle silky, “leather feel” on the back-palate, and a complex and long finish. This wine is drinking well now and will develop wonderfully with age, up to 10 years from vintage.
