TASTING NOTES
Storm Ignis Pinot Noir 2019 is savoury, scented and delicate wine. It has finesse with attractive sweetness, flavours of watermelon and wild strawberries, some underlying granitic grip, spicy oak and a refreshing finish.
The wine shows a marked elegance and is slightly more opulent and perfumed than the previous vintage.
Ignis Pinot Noir hails from a northern slope in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley with an elevation of 220M above sea level. Organically farmed, the vineyard is cluttered with round pebbles on the soil surface with underlying decomposed granite. Latin for “fire”, ignis refers to the fact that granite is an igneous rock formation – “from fire to stone”.
Only 6,480 bottles were produced for this vintage.
