Mullineux was established by powerhouse winemaking couple, Chris and Andrea Mullineux in the Swartland region, 60km north of Cape Town. A young winery that only began in 2007, Mullineux quickly established itself as a celebrated winery, with Chris and Andrea being named 2017 South African Winemakers of the Year by Tim Atkin, and Andrea Mullineux being named 2016 Winemaker of the Year by US publication Wine Enthusiast. She was the first winemaker from South Africa to earn this accolade.
The hot and dry Swartland region where many old vines have been planted is a perfect place for Mullineux's terroir-specific, award-winning Syrahs and Chenin Blancs, earning them thirty 5-star ratings from Platters Wine Guide.
Leeu Passant was established in 2013 in partnership with Analjit Singh. Based at the wine cellar on Leeu Estates in Franschhoek, Leeu Passant was a fantastic opportunity to harness these exciting vineyards to create something under a new label in a different wine region, but with the same no-compromise approach to quality that Chris & Andrea share with Bas, and with which the Mullineux range of wines is made.
