100% Pinotage 

Backsberg celebrates five generations of winemaking heritage. Over the last 100 years, the family’s farming activities have gone through many iterations - including top-grade blueberries. While today the focus is wine, the family still farm juicy blueberries nearby.

Hedged VSP vines planted in dark, rich soils of Oakleaf and weathered granite provide optimal conditions for this truly South African grape variety. 

Due to its thick and tannic skin, colour is extracted from the Pinotage grapes within the first couple of days of fermentation. Early pressed, immediate oaking and bottled 12 months later, this Pinotage is true to its varietal character.

Juicy yet gentle, this Pinotage showcases notes of mocha, cinnamon and wild blueberries reflecting its origins.

This fruity style of wine makes it lovely on its own as well as an ideal accompaniment to lamb, spicy fare and hearty Italian dishes.
