TASTING NOTES
Invigorating and lively, with great acidity and freshness. This is an energetic wine that shows harmony between aromas and flavours-- papaya, cantaloupe melon, fresh raspberries, blueberries, a little snap of cranberries, plus a hint of earthiness and toasted almonds on the finish.
The name "Nothing to Declare" is a tribute to passionate winemakers and viticulturists who smuggled vine cuttings of great varietals into South Africa during a time when South Africa had trade embargoes. These vine cuttings have provided the new generation of winemakers, the foundation to take this industry to new heights. These winemakers literally sometimes tied the cuttings to their legs, covered them with their trousers and walked through the airports as if they had 'nothing to declare'.
Listen to winemaker Pieter Walser share the backstory behind this wine HERE.
