TASTING NOTES
50% Cabernet Franc, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot
Warwick Estate has been making the Trilogy for almost 40 years, without skipping a vintage! A bold new-world expression of Stellenbosch terroir that sets itself apart as being a Cabernet Franc-fronted blend of international repute.
The wine has spent 22 months in oak of which 43% was new providing a wonderfully opulent yet classy Bordeaux blend with great lift and herbaceous undertones from the cabernets franc and sauvignon. The warm 2020 vintage has provided velvety tannins and great depth of fruit on the palate, enabling this flagship wine to be drunk young but with the capacity to age and improve for 10 to 15 years. Drink from next year to 2031.
Floral and perfumed, aromas of lilies, black current and lavender leap out of the glass. The palate is finely structured with powdery tannins and concentrated fruit weight. Dark chocolate and cassis supported by fresh and bright acid structure adds length to the mid-palate. All these elements will enable the wine to mature well over the next decade.
Food Pairings:
Pairs beautifully with roasted beef, lamb, venison, braised beef short rib, teppanyaki, yakiniku, grilled Mediterranean vegetables, and aged cheeses. The wine’s structure and acidity also complement dishes with savory herbs and root vegetables
