Born from a desire to craft one of the finest ultra-premium Malbec wines in the world, the Patronus is utterly handcrafted and involved meticulous attention to detail throughout the winemaking process.
Harvested from decades-old vines, sustainably-farmed vines, this exquisite Malbec is the patrimony of De Toren’s continuous quest for perfection. Only hand-harvested grapes at peak fruit maturity are used to make the wine. The wine is fermented in closed barrels, open oak barrels and smaller open stainless-steel tanks, then blended and matured in new French oak barrels.
The wine is aromatic, vibrant and full-bodied with tightly knit tannins and a refined palate. It has flavours of plum, ripe cherries and berries, gentle notes of coconut. On the mid-palate, a sensation of tart currant leads the wine into a long, fragrant finish with fresh acidity and gentle, chalky tannins. It is a wine that embodies both energy and elegance.
This wine has an ageing potential of two decades or more, under optimal cellaring conditions.
